Boy was I wrong! I forgot that Shorty’s bro. had problems with their car tote’er ( for hauling a car behind another vehicle). On his way to AZ. Something happened to his tote’er brakes? He made it fine but knew he had problems. As he’s a master mechanic I knew I wouldn’t be much help in the “what’s wrong” department but I do know where the tools are. Plus I’m a pretty good helper who thinks while helping. OK, the brakes were history- not just the bands- parts had fallen into the drum and pretty well ground up everything in it. He really can do without the tot’er brakes with reasonable care and a different route back to IA. Long story made much shorter we took out all the brake parts from both sides, checked the wheel bearings, checked anything else related. All the brake parts went into grocery bags for their trip back to IA for eventual replacement. We put it all back together and started on the tot’er lights that had gone South on his trip. Now I don’t know if you’ve ever working on trailer lights but this old man HAS. Much like a brake system, for something so simple it can sure get complex. Three old men, each trying to not let the shaking hands or their limited eye sight or the positions that their hands that just wouldn’t function right anymore, re-wired the tote’er lights. Shorty’s bro isn’t heading back soon so time wasn’t an issue. Nothing absolutely necessary was involved unless you think that pulling a vehicle and making a long trip in motor home with said towed vehicle having questionable lights and major brake issues aren’t a potential problem. Anyway it was fun for me- I’m sorry but there’s just nothing better than working on something with someone else and finally “getting her done.” A couple of real characters added to the mix enhances the project- you notice the number of characters as opposed to number of individuals involved, right?
