Sherry has continued to read all the “better health” articles, magazines and etc. through the years. Lately a subject has been appearing quite often in various publications. That subject being pets. As most of you already know I have always liked pets and usually had a pet during my life. Our last pet was quite a character –Merlin. His passing wasn’t fun for him or us. It was mutually agreed that he would be our last pet. Well that seems to up for debate now. All the life enhancements associated with having a pet are generally well documented and I can accept most of their theories. I’ll also admit that the “idea” of having a pet sounds nice. It’s not the idea or theory of it that is problematic to me. It’s likely my inner pessimistic attitude about it that bothers me. We’ve gone along all these years without the issue being actually “an issue” but it has reared it’s ugly head again. Sherry has been alluding to, mentioning and finally outright said “we ought to have a pet again.” To further complicate the subject the local humane society is promoting the “black Friday” thing with specials. I’ll admit they are pretty special specials but still. How about an older dog (5 years or older) with all shots and license to a senior citizen for $7. Same conditions for cats-except they are Free. They just had to do that to complicate my life. While we were discussing it (Sherry talking about it with Crusty listening attentively sort of) she ended with “well can’t we just go and look at them Friday?” That statement ended the “listening attentively” with loud outbursts of laughter by Crusty. Who could do that and come home without one? Maybe if I don’t mention it, the subject will “go away.” Ya Think?

Losing a pet is heart wrenching but I've learned that living without one is depressing. Something furry in a house makes it a home. Just saying. ;}
