Cleanup from the New Years day event went well as always. Just a few pots and glasses to wash and return to their assigned storage places. Wipe the tables and sweep the floor and it was pretty much done. From there I slowly advanced to consider what specifically I wanted to get done before “the partners” arrival Friday. I’d sort of left a small mess out behind the shed after splitting some a few pieces of firewood that we surely didn’t need Monday. Then some of the “I could do without but sure like having” items needed rearranging. Critical stuff like a old cracked plastic garbage can that I use to convey cactus debris to the dumpster. It fits on the two wheeled hand truck just right and if I use a degree of discrimination I can usually lift over the dumpster’s edge to dump. Actually there are two of those junk plastic garbage cans- the other is almost full of wood scraps from Bill’s projects. Really scraps, really junk but when I need kindling to start a fire I use quite a bit of kindling and I’ve already used up my inventory of scrap wood. That wasn’t hard to do since I haven’t used much lumber in a while. The immediate goal is that Shorty can back his truck back in the rear driveway to unload it. Sometimes he wants to and sometimes he doesn’t. Often dependent on what inventory of projects he show up with. That area is officially declared finished. Next area to address is the shed. I guess it isn’t unreasonable to provide some space in there for him to stow items. Items that aren’t needed in the back of his truck and don’t belong inside. Currently he couldn’t even reach the fasteners (bolt, nut and nail) shelves. That’s today I figure. But then where else do I store my varmint trap or boxes of painting supplies or his ½ bags of mortar and concrete?
