Maybe I should change this blog to “The News From My Scout.” That seems to be my focus of late. The repaired (NEW parts) turn signal switch now works unfortunately it doesn’t self cancel. Shorty asked if I had it working yet I answered “Yep but they must be Iowa turn signals because they just keep flashing.”

Other things fill today but I will return to the Scout and I did verify a leaking freeze plug behind the starter. That’s do-able but the starter and possibly the front drive shaft will have to come off. Better that than some I’ve fought that you just couldn’t actually get to the freeze plugs.

My next immediate project is to unload my heavy duty 4 wheel hand cart. There’s a good chance I’ll want to use it this afternoon. Adam & Trindal called last night with a message that somehow had gotten lost. The message was “there will be a commercial hot air coffee roaster being delivered to your house Thursday afternoon.” The delivery company wouldn’t go off paved roads to get to their house and will only off load it with their lift gate. I really don’t know much about it other than that. Sooo in able to be ready to handle it having a heavy duty 4 wheel hand cart sounds like a good idea to me. It may well be overkill but with my experiences of late overkill a vastly better condition than the other condition. It shouldn’t take long to offload what’s on it (there I go again leaving the possibility of something becoming a much larger undertaking than I estimated).

What was Sherry’s OLD shot gun has made it home. If you’re a long time reader you may recall me making a forward grip for it a few years ago. I would never have shot it the way it was plus the barrel had been shortened very sloppily. Shorty’s brother is very fine mechanic and machinist in Mt Pleasant IA. Shorty took it back to him and he put it in his lath and cut it properly. Shorty then took it out to test fire it a few days after his eye surgery and it kicked so badly that it smacked him in the nose resulting in a trip back to the eye doctor etc. He was OK other than a very painful nose and black eyes. After all that he re-tried it holding it (much) differently and it worked out OK. The suggestion is to use target load shot in it and don’t plan on hitting anything very far away. Frankly I don’t expect to be aiming at anything far away at all or even using it but if it’s sitting next to the door and loaded – Well if the need arises it WILL be loaded unless there are kids in the house.
