Monday-
Had a good visit & breakfast with Kurt this morning. Then things
sort of slipped away. I decided that after not hearing from VA about
their overpaying for 3 ½ months maybe I should try again. The first
time I contacted them in Aug I was told that it could be 3-4 months
before they contacted me but that my official notification had been
noted. Just to be safe I went through the process AGAIN. Guess What?
No notification was shown. Well Now – that could have turned ugly.
This time I was better prepared- I spoke to Betty Jean who told me
just about the same story I got before. The over-payments will
probably continue for 3-4 months and then I will be contacted about
returning them along with the previous months. As a result of all
this I marked my calendar for Feb. 1 to follow up if I haven’t
heard anything. It’s hard to believe that giving money back would
be such an undertaking.
By this time I was getting a little irritated – OK I’ve been irritated before and survived it I guess I’ll do it again.
By the time all that transpired I was almost ready for a nap- not really but ready for a change in atmosphere. I looked around “old #5” and didn’t see a single project I wanted to tangle with. Well then I remembered the noise in the Ford and the new stethoscope I got to check it out with. It confirmed what I suspected- bearings in the alternator are right noisy. I thought to myself “it’s been so long since you dealt THAT that maybe I should go check the Scout alternator just to verify that the Ford really was that loud.” Yep way loud compared to the Scout. I don’t remember if I’ve ever replaced the alternator in the Scout and it’s quiet compared to the Ford. THEN I remembered I had replaced the one in the Ford at least once because I had to rewire the connections. Off to Autozone- Yep 2012 I replaced it for the second time. Hum BUT it is under warranty this time! If I remember correctly (always questionable) it had actually failed due to the short that caused me to re-wire it- Whatever IT’S under warranty now. Changing it isn’t too bad now that it has new connectors etc from last time (chuckle) BUT NOT TODAY. I was ready to get out and move in a wider circle than downtown Mesa. I drove to Tempe for material to recover the bar stools AGAIN and get bungee rope for the shadetarps and some for Bill for the same thing there. Whoops – one roll of 1/4” left on the shelf and there’s not much let on it, not even close to the 5’ that I went after. OK I’ll take it- that might do Bills job but as long as I’m here I’ll get the material for the bar stools. Wrong- I’ll get some material close to what the one that doesn’t need re-doing and to what’s on the booth. The same material was out of stock. I’m almost afraid to open the bar fridge for fear of being “out of stock.” Yeah – not very likely but it’s happened – NOT tonight though. Well it was another long day – not unendurable and it did have some early high spots, nothing happened that will severally damage the budget, my mental stability or even my general. There was even a choice in the fridge- (chuckle)
Tomorrow I’ll start all over again with the projects I’ll just add changing the alternator to the list somewhere not too far from the top – that alternator is pretty loud and surely don’t want it to come apart and throw the belt into the radiator – NO - NO - NO .
What I just realize is that I neglected to get a birthday card in the mail to a grandson - I think that, again, I got my priorities messed up. Gurr I am consistent though. (chuckle)
