Happy Thursday Morning. It’s just starting to get light outside here and the freight train down the street is announcing it’s presence. Looking to be another beautiful day in Central AZ. Things were pretty peaceful around “old #5” yesterday - as far as I know. I skipped out for quite a while. I’m getting tired of a mess all around the back and courtyard. I’m not accustomed to that as I think of that area as my living space for 9 months out of the year. Usually when the partners are here the other 3 months it all works out but this year there is a third entity to contend with. His latest 3 day project turned 5-7 day – to convert his van into a more comfortable living space for himself- has become an endless undertaking. The rails that attached the rows of seats didn’t come out easily – maybe not out yet. I stayed away from it all yesterday. I see the entire exhaust system laying on the ground and there was talk of dropping the fuel tanks to access the “major” bolts holding them in place. Lots of grinding, cutting and hammering going on plus a LOT of colorful verbalizations accompanied all this. We’ll see -
Time to stake up the tomatoes – I re-used the hog wire from many previous years and got new stakes and expect to get them in the ground today. I’m still deciding if I really want to plant anything else in the area. The Lemon tree is beginning to cover and shade it which should provide some shade in June. That’s traditionally when the sun & heat starts to cook anything directly exposed.
I had a fire laid in for last night but when dusk arrived I was not in the mood or something. I think I was looking forward to the solitude or peacefulness that I knew wasn’t going to happen outside so I “passed” on the f,b & b. (fire, book & brew) and adjourned to the Cavern, with two of the three. Why Yes I CAN be adaptable (if required) . (chuckle)
For a while now I’ve had these thoughts of having the ability to hit the road for fairly short periods – I’ve been considering another old trashed out camper. It seems that really small ones are still out there and most (in my price range) are truly and thoroughly trashed out. Could I pull it off AGAIN? Could I fund it without terrible consequences and what would the “old Scout” really need to be prepared? At this point the last of that equation is probably a major factor. Oh Well – more fun thinking about it than tackling something serious – Ha Ha Ha
