Yep I’m still able to function this morning. I wasn’t too sure last night. I gave it the old man version of being NOT the old man most of the day. Chopped back some cactus that were needing some attention. That’s a good way to start. Then I thought “if I’m going to put a couple tomato plants in this year I like to get them in SOON.” Easy to say, less easy to accomplish. I now have an additional space in front of the Lemon tree (which by the way has over 100 lemons on it). Still not sure where they fit. Behind the lemon tree is a possibility. Shade from the tree might be an asset- mixed thoughts. Less sunlight but some shade for when it gets hot and the days get long might mean later first crop but might well mean longer production period. Usually the tomatoes are cooking on the vine by the end of June. I WILL say with a degree of confidence that the extra 1+ foot of planting space in front of the tree was a battle hard fought and it still isn’t DONE. The sod is cut and in piles, the border is re-set but not ‘installed’ (not tamped to hold it in place yet). AND I will need some dirt – I’d forgotten what cutting & removing very old Arizona sod was like. Big Mess! Needless to say even from a 1+ foot 14’ long space there are two wheelbarrows full after salvaging the clean dirt in it. Crazy old man will pay today – I REALLY don’t like it – The whole idea probably wasn’t one of my better ideas/plans. Oh Well (chuckle) Get out there and get it cleaned up FIRST then do something. . .
Summer is upon us here. Looking for 104 degrees in a day or two. I should be on the roof cleaning the AC coils etc and just making sure it still works instead of playing in the yard. Shoulda Coulda Woulda but didn’t - - - Well we’ll see I guess.
