Wow I started the day on a roll! I had intentions of “getten her done” in the house. Things were a little damp still outside but the sky was blue with giant puffy white clouds and the temperature was “good to go”. I did for about an hour – well that’s selling myself a little short, it was longer than that but nothing like what I had in mind. I’ll just conclude that with – I got in a pretty good hour and a half. Then the landline started to ring – I don’t answer it very often – nothing but robots & telemarketers– lately they’ve been hitting 8-12 a day. AND one (now) former friend. When he calls I didn’t even have to check the number- if it had been redialed every 1 minute for 40 minutes- When I got around to checking the log, it was Tony. In spite of my usual good judgment(snicker) when I was ready for a break I called him back. Mistake ! I have not been yelled at a lot, ever in my life, other than basic training, (Ha Ha) Over the phone – ya better have an emergency or don’t start yelling. Better- DON’T start yelling at all– I don’t respond well. Nor did I respond well this time. “I’m not your slave, Tony, it’s my phone”. Whoops- Tony is black – It didn’t take long to realize this wasn’t going anywhere positive. There’s a lot of background missing out of this story but suffice it to say I have no doubts NOW as to why his family won’t help him out although he lives with his mother and I’ve met most of his siblings. After something like 20 years my parting shot was “Good Bye Tony.” I hate “Good Byes” even ones overdue.
Not a very uplifting story to close the evening with but I think after relating it to text I realize how negligent I’ve been for too long. It’s hard in that I have been helped by SO many in my life. It’s very difficult to turn away from one who needs help but my help wasn’t helping after 5 years it was creating another problem I believe.
OK, Thank You for bearing with me through this, another life experience I thought I could do without. Shows how much I know !
