The News From Here

Busy weekend based on my norms anyway. Sat. helping Bill with his Lincoln- success! I have no idea what I ‘bring to the table’ in situations like that but whatever it is I’m glad to have been of service and been a part of it. Later in the day I was offered a load of firewood – not just free – but free and he’d load it. I said “ain’t goin ta happen”. I’m old and kinda battered up but . . . He said he’d had 3 others who said they wanted it but never showed up to get it. I had no idea it would fill my trailer till I had to put ratchet straps over the load to keep it in/on the trailer. I didn’t even ask about the size of the logs or if any had been split. Lots of wood! Some small pieces and I might load some over sized pieces in the garbage dumpster because I’m not equipped to handle them BUT there’s more than enough to make some effort to deal with and I’m grateful to have it. Now I have to admit it hasn’t been easy and I still have about ½ a load of some pretty big trunk pieces BUT they weren’t just cut. They are old, dried and well seasoned! Well naturally I had to try out some of it this evening and my back was in full agreement and encouragement that an evening in the courtyard recliner and B,B & B was called for. Hardwood here is hauled for at least 100 miles and the least expensive is sold by the wheelbarrow load for $20 and up. Always a mix of whatever is available. All that to let you know that a nice evening has been enjoyed in the courtyard recliner and B,B & B’d. Again based on ‘my norm’ it’s quite late- 11:30 PM. I won’t mention the weather BUT (Ha Ha) with a nice fire it was pretty nice outside.
