Well another day has come and almost gone. I think I should have skipped the last couple of hours. I have gotten hooked on reading with a Kindle. Oh I have a thing about books – but I thought I was over it after hauling over 400 books (just one trip) to Hospice of the Valley over 5 years ago. But a Kindle up date with out notification or simple directions to get the upgrade and set it up. OH I wasn’t born yesterday and frankly I’m not at all sure I’d want to start all over. I ?think? it was a gentler time though back then – when I’m not real sure. You know like yesterday. (chuckle) Oh Crap YESTERDAY - I’m still hurting – Darn how soon I forget. Why Shorty wanted to buy a used trailer hitch and make it fit I’ll never understand. Well Crap. Again I know why – and I know why I spent the day helping. He Needed To Do something challenging that he knew he could do (maybe I think).
Good Grief how did I get from trying to update an old Kindle to making an odd trailer hitch work? Ha Ha Ha I guess by letting you know that neither project is done. Here is the funny part. I kept thinking (while working with Shorty) You should have just bought the correct hitch and we’d have had it installed. Much like I COULD have just bought a newer Kindle and been reading this evening instead of . . . Saying unkind things about their customer service (?) and directions. Grumpy old men are funny if . . . Hum – Ok Ok I got ‘an’ answer- “if you are one”.
Raining here. (better than snow or ice) Better even more – I wasn’t working out in it. MUCH better than my buddy today running a 90 lb. jack hammer in the rain while his crew was reaching down in deep holes grabbing chucks of OLD concrete to get them out of the way. I’m not sure how some of the young folks are going to manage without the old timers saying- Let’s get her done!
Hummm I’m thinking that’s a pretty good RANT for today.
Tomorrow it’s off to the Dwarf Car Museum with Orland (my friend for the longest time), wife and his sister with a side trip afterwards to a Casino for dinner and . . . Not much “and” for me – I’m not much for playing against machines that WILL win, period and I haven’t sat at a poker table in so long I don’t even remember for sure HOW to play. Haven’t missed it a bit either. Seems like my life has been more serious gambling than any ‘game’ could match. Hum- I better think about that especially remembering my Dad’s expression “if you can afford to lose it, it ain’t gambling.” He said that and I can’t remember him ever EVEN flipping a coin. I guess he didn’t feel he could afford to loss it- Whoo I guess I’m the last one left to really remember Dad. Oh that’s a great thought to take to bed ! BUT I’m glad for it & Thankful for it.
