I was entirely too comfortable last night reading in ‘The Cavern’. A dark comfortable (warm & dry) atmosphere with easy listening background music and I good book and well by the time I realized what time it was . . .
My friends were delayed by weather (snow and winds) in Northern AZ but expected in tomorrow. I did get the patio & courtyard cleaned up a little but it’s still breezy so it was probably in vain. Oh well a few fallen blooms etc. . .
Let’s see now, other exciting news from “old #5”. The general atmosphere is good again. I don’t have clue if that’s good or something to be leery of. Ha Ha Ha My defined plan is to ‘go with the flow’. Pretty good plan don’t ya think? Under the conditions I couldn’t come up with a better one. (smile)
A birthday at the Legion this evening with cake all made by a friend. Carrot cake with real cream cheese icing – all home made by a large Texan man. Really Good. I always thought it was his wife who did the cooking for special occasions – they provide lots of food for events when the kitchen is closed. Oh Darn, wrong again.
I just saw a picture of a Semi going over as a result of wind gusts in Amarillo, Texas. I recalled a trip back to the Midwest in my old (1965) Econoline /mini RV and hitting a spot in Central NM where the wind was really blowing. Blowing so hard I had issues keeping it on the road. I was avoiding super highways because I wanted to. Well Central NM isn’t really a highly populated area and truck stops are not numerous on two lane roads. I found one! Then had to decide if I wanted to park out of the way of semi’s blowing over on me or finding a place between semi’s that provided some wind breaks. I opted for between because I knew that with the van rocking back and forth violently I wouldn’t get any sleep. Well it all worked out. It was a really small truck stop catering to local delivery semi’s and very friendly. A truck stop shower, snack and a warm bed in the back of the van and next morning and I was ‘good to go’. Did ya know that there are big salt lakes in Central N.M. ? See that’s what ya get for taking the main roads? That’s something I’m not a proponent of unless there is a significant reason for it. All that contributes to me looking for a small old camper or at least helps fuel that flame. I’ve made the trip back to the Midwest in about all the means possible (except for hitching- ain’t going there). Air, train, bus, new cars and old vehicles. Direct, round about, in a hurry and not. My goal is to do it without time restraints and leisurely in mind set. There’s a few more routes I haven’t tried and I don’t want to be rushed by schedile. Heck, I can’t even spell schedule anymore.
