The News From Here

Yesterday took an unexpected turn. Shorty’s Bro/Sis in law came by. They arrived a couple of days after Shorty did. They’re staying in their motorhome at in Apache Junction. They are interesting couple of characters. They haven’t been here in several years but they remembered a skillet to bring me that they hadn’t been able to find before. Actually they brought me two but one especially- deep and big. They’ll take a little cleaning up but we know someone able to handle that don’t we. While everyone was here we got the motorcycle off the trailer and things juggled around a bit out back. Then we unloaded the firewood. Kenny (Shorty’s bro) asked about what kind of wood I liked for cooking and smoking food. He lives in Southern Iowa – fairly rural area and has access to lots of firewood. “Maybe next trip” he said. By the time all that was wrapped up I had to hurry a bit to be ready for the anniversary celebration. It all worked out great. Happy Hour struck just as we walked in. We went to place that we used to frequent when we first came to Mesa and haven’t been back for a very long time. It was good and reasonable in price. Ain’t no fast food place for sure but hey- we only have one 32nd anniversary. Some things really change through the years. I can remember when a celebration like that would extend well into the morning hours. Not so now. Home before dark. Not that we planned it that way but. . .
