My government protects me from my own stupidity NOT! Many folks get up in arms about things they see as unfair practices sometimes rightfully so. Other times they want someone to do their thinking for them. Recently noted example of the “do gooder” mentality is the burying of taxes and fees in air fares. There was something of an outcry about having been quoted fares and then realize that there were taxes and fees ALSO. If you buy a TV don’t you expect there will be additional charges for taxes and fees? OK OK I know the government has been doing it with fuel all these many years and unfortunately it has worked so well that now in response to those who don’t want to take time to investigate and verify charges to travel it’s on air fares also. The gov., in my opinion, is more interested in having their taxes undisclosed so as to diminish the impact and awareness of the citizenry. If the law would have provided that customers be quoted the total COST, that might be one thing. No that isn’t enough, we must also be protected from the knowledge that with each day the cost to sustain the monster that feeds on us instead of representing and protecting (actual protection) us is eating the hand that feeds it. On the surface of such actions they “seem” to be a good idea but when they are administrated by folks of questionable integrity or outright stupidity the outcome will cost more and more until, well I don’t even want to think that way.
I can’t say I feel a lot better having converted my feeling and irritations into the written work- But Hey maybe cyber words don’t even count like a lot of the words I use.
