Another really kicked back day with Robin. Not complaining for sure just stating a fact. It’s been a good time of just being together in spite of the weather which continues to be from cool & cloudy to really cool & rain- which just started AGAIN.
This morning, once again, the Yucca out front was leaning way over- the ground is so saturated with water that the stakes gave a little plus we had some strong breezes yesterday. I grabbed a couple 18” pieces of re-bar and some rope and when out to correct the situation. Again I wasn’t too successful without someone to hold the Yucca stalk straight as try to tie the rope to a stack. Again help came unexpectedly. Shorty stuck his head out the door and said I coming just as a neighbor came running over and grabbed the stalk and held it for me. I thanked him as he returned to his truck to go to work. Shorty was walking out to help and said “I can’t seem to help with anything.” Whoops Crusty – I best attend to feelings but all this from people from the street and next door helping is something I can’t explain. Oh I knew it was available but I’m just a tad (or more) surprised by folks just jumping in and “doing” without any request. It’s really an experience for me – a very nice experience.
I gotta stake up the Tomatoes TOO- they plants are growing pretty big and the ground is soft out back too (chuckle) Imagine that! My plan is to have massive Tomato plants so when the spring sunshine and warmth hits they’ll be in bloom and ready to produce. Hey – it’s a good plan.
I’m sort of on hold while the weather is not conductive to “junk yarding” looking for a complete differential for the Ford. Online has not proven very effective as the only positive responses I’m gotten are from 1000’s of miles away. Not a possibility – shipping for something that heavy isn’t an option. Thankfully it’s just noisy so far- but searching to what in a replace vehicle I ?want? isn’t going much better. Hum – imagine that – looking for a 20 year old vehicle with less than 100,000 miles with minimal electronics – Yeah Right Old Crusty.” The one prospective one is about 50 miles away and the owner hasn’t be very forth coming with information. It’s a year newer than the Ford but a LOT fewer miles – It’s a strange set of parameters I’ve set, I know but . . . I went to look at a 90 pickup – it was a little rough but “do-able” till I checked the radiator and the engine oil- I can’t imagine having a vehicle setting in front of my house “For Sale” that is drastically low on coolant AND engine oil. Those aren't warning signs – those are STOP signs. I’m actually ?thinking? about diverting my funds into the Scout and considering being a ONE vehicle person. It has resale value “as is” & funds spent on it are more likely recoverable but then I remember July and August without AC and wonder and wonder and wonder. Then I remember what getting “some” parts for it is like and thinking – I couldn't even go pick them up without something else to drive. OK, enough of this- I’m just clearing out the cob-webs in my brain - Ha Ha - I’ve been doing that all my life and haven’t successed YET!
