I have and have had the parts to replace the body mounts under the Scout for a while. The current challenge is getting the old bolts OUT. Understand they have been in place to over 40 years. THEY aren’t the challenge – the standard long Phillips machine screws that hold the door thresholds down are. They have been in place screwed into steel for a very long time. I’ve tried penetrate products, an impact screw driver (broke the tip on it) . Searching in the intermess – one person used a Dremal and ground the heads off and then removed the thresholds and could get to the screws well enough to get them out. I thought (scary, always scary- me THINKING) OK and went looking for a Dremal bit. First and only stop my local Ace Hardware. First question – what ya working on today Roger?- Yeah I’m pretty well known there. Explained the situation and he said “here are the hardest Dremal bits available” But do you have a compressor and a tool bit grinder? Instantly I said “Yes to the compressor and I think to the grinder but I’m not sure where.” I asked “why”. He said “Here are some diamond tipped small grinder bits and Hey they are cheaper and more of them in the set!” Yeah I’m pretty well known there after by first trip there in Feb. 1993. I said “Thanks. I’ll take them.” Went home and looked for my machine tool grinder – Yep you guessed it! I’m thinking this isn’t going well,
Whaa Whoo! Compressor and a new grinder AND diamond bits and now what’s left – air tool oil! Don’t waste air tools without the proper oil and then complain about the tools -oil every use and better than that occasionally between uses. I think I’d best fire up the compressor to make sure it’s functional before I get too excited. Whaa Whoo!, Whaa Whoo! I’m on a roll BUT some other things of more immediate need won the attention contest. I didn’t even realize there was a contest going on.
