My plan for today was to spend it in “Crusty’s Cavern”, my home bar. Very explicit plans starting below the shelf that encircles the upper parameter of the room filled with glass barware- back lite with rope lights. I have taken 2 or 3 boxes of “bar glassware” off those shelves I honestly I can’t see where they were removed from. Only one instance can I remember when I gave some to and that only because he just passed away and wanted the pair of 24 oz heavy beer mugs because they reminded him of long passed times of root beer floats a family member had made for him. Sure glad I did. Sometimes you don’t know the importance of what you do. In my case it’s almost a rule-chuckle.
When I expected to be starting in the bar I noticed that some of my workmanship from yesterday did NOT meet my approval. OK it’ll drive me crazy’er if I don’t get it better than yesterdays version of the new shade tarps over that area. There’s only so much you can do with a basically rectangle frame and less than really rectangle tarps. Then there’s the center one that REALLY NEEDS to be free to lift to allow winds to escape without talking the entire framework with it. Why Yes I do have some prior experience with such things. A west facing wall abutting a LARGE slab of painted concrete patio floor gets HOT and stays HOT when the wall is concrete too. It would be morning before that wall’s temperature got below 100 degrees. I ?think? I made an improvement in that shade structure AND a slight start on the cleaning and refreshing of the bar. Ah but tomorrow is another day and if it doesn’t materialize then I will have wasted a good day worrying about it. Nah – I think I’ll define it as a good day, just not all I was hoping for but then ‘ain’t that just life’. There were a couple of unexpected highlights. I went to the Legion for lunch and a fine ‘older” gentleman I know announced it was his birthday ! Did you catch that ‘older’ older than me even. Ha Ha Ha. The chef got wind of it and brought out a giant chocolate chip Birthday Cookie with a candle. He had to take some home even- nice.
