9:30 PM Aug 11, 2015 She’s a working up to storm outside. I’ve been going outside to watch the lightening show pretty much all over the Southwestern sky. The lightening is hitting something out there. It’s way far off at the moment but headed this way at a pretty good clip. I’m going to lose a few tarps again. The big one 12 x 20 isn’t likely to make it through the night. At least one grommet has been pulled out already and I just heard the first loud thunder. It was close. It’s getting near. No rain yet Whoops I was wrong, the sunshade tarps are blowing so hard I couldn’t hear the rain. Gee you’d think it was monsoon season. I’ve lived here long enough to remember several years in a row that without ANY monsoon activity that we’d wondered if there would ever be another. Well there were more, many. Most years they’re fairly weak, some years they are mostly dust storms and then there are those years when it’s thunderstorms and rain and wind and . . . MONSOON season! Batten down the hatches – I think it may just be THAT year. We’ve been fortunate damage wise. Tarps are expendable and not too costly as opposed to roofs and AC units flying away and carport covers departing for other places. Whatever - there isn’t much I can do about any of it so unless it gets really violent I’ll probably head off to nighty, night soon.

10:00 PM Well it’s all quiet and peaceful now. Radar doesn’t show much else headed this way . It’s pretty early in the season so even if some tarps endure the evening I’ll be in the market for replacements, not in a hurry to replace them but hopefully prepared and equipped. This time there is more involved. The sunscreen that has shaded the West wall is worn out-period. I bought it from a garage sale some (?) years ago. They were actually dust screens from a construction site. Who knows how old they were back then. “They” being 2, 6’x20’ hemmed and grommeted sunshades/dust stoppers. The other one I used as a garden shade. Both are ready for the dumpster now.

The company got back and turned in a while back. I hope Buddy got to spend some time with his dad – They have decided that here is where they want to retire. I can understand that for sure. It’s sort of funny back when Sherry & I first got together Bud Sr. would tell her family I’d end up dragging her to someplace strange, maybe even out of state. (chuckle). Now there are more of them here than anyplace and several that haven’t moved here have definite plans to do so. I always tell those planning to move here- don’t gripe about June, July and Aug because if it weren’t for those 3 months none of us could afford to live here because everyone would crowding us out.

OK today’s post is pretty late but I got it in plus I sat here enjoying the storm and keying it in during a tough time.
