As has happened many times in the past my concerns and hesitations to tackle something end up being a total waste of time and energy. This time I’m Thankful that I didn’t let it really irritate me. The coolant leak on the Scout, after I finally climbed under it was simply a hose that needed another turn on its clamp AND it was the easiest clamp to get to. Done and out in minutes. It probably was the recent experience with that cooling system that made me resistant to attacking it. Another fine example of the ineffectiveness of procrastination and the effectiveness of procrastination causing more stress and frustration. Just get her done Crusty.
The trailer is one step closer to usable as of yesterday. Two items on my checklist were marked as done or really close. The tailgate works as well as it ever will probably and it has a tongue jack that just needs 3 good bolts, nuts and washers. “Good” being an actual term. Lots of stress on the jack sometimes. I guess in retrospect I sort of did a Tom Sawyer on it. I was fumbling around with it in my traditional manner and Brad came out to see what I was doing. Away he went – Grabbed the grinder and went to it. Being my not always dumb laborer I sort of stood back and encouraged him. (chuckle) I’d have gotten it but I think my speed (lack thereof) might have bothered him. I plan to drive the Scout over to get NEW quality bolts & etc – a double satisfaction – driving the Scout without a coolant leak and getting the trailer one step closer to usable. Other than getting it legal the other two things that I need to do for it are- Making a cover for it to shield it from the summer sun and rain and tires. The shielding isn’t to maintain any beauty – it’s pretty short on that already though – It’s tp give the wood a little protection.
