I plumb wore myself out yesterday.
The 1st picture is the smallest Fountain Grass clump I have. Taking it from picture 1 to picture 2 only took about an hour but then I moved to the one that doesn't get trimmed often and didn't get photographed either. It WAS over 4 times the size of the pictured one. It's stems were almost 5' tall and had laid over from wind. It was a mess to cleanup after trimming PLUS I ran totally out of containers to hold the trimmings. To do that required loading a garbage can and then cutting all the trimmings to semi mulch, packing it all down and do again till no more would go in the cans. It could take a while to get rid of it all but the hard part IS DONE for now. During and after that process were quite a few minor projects. The fountain grass gets really dusty and it was pretty warm by the time I got to the large one so a lot of breaks were required (chuckle).
I got around to checking the Ford's coolant. The radiator was full to the every top but the expansion tank was down quite a ways. I'm wondering how much coolant (all water at this point) would evaporate out of it in the last week with about 200 miles driving? The expansion tank no longer has a cap and hasn't for a very long time, it disintegrated from the heat. and it stays very hot under the hood even if it hasn't been driven. I guess I'll make a cap of some kind after filling it and see if that makes a difference.
I added some general cleanup in the courtyard and backyard along toward dusk and took a walk around out front to admire my projects from earlier in the day. I realized how long it been since we had any rain- a long time. The very minor monsoons we had earlier didn't offer much moisture to "old #5." I grabbed my watering can and went to work. I only water ones that are in pots or looking stressed yet it takes a while refilling the can etc but it's still easier than dragging out a hose and risk getting it attacked by cactus thorns and having to roll it back up when I'm done. By that time it was almost dark and time to "call it" for the day.
Today's agenda probably won't be as aggressive as yesterdays- Imagine that. . .
