Have I mentioned it's monsoon season. That means sometimes rain, a little or a lot, sometimes wind, a little or a lot, sometimes dust, a little or a lot". In this case so far this year, right here, we've had A LOT of rain in a very short time period once. We've had wind, fortunately not damaging wind right here but lots of wind. My cheap tarps show the effects above. My not so attractive but very functional sun shade has about shed it coverings. Better tarps last quite a bit better but they are silver - the green ones look a lot nicer but these were only a few months old but then it HAS been monsoon season and a fairly hard one this year for such items. Replacing them takes a while with my semi elaborate system of using 3 tarps- the two end ones are individual tarps attached firmly. The center tarp is attached with bungee cords to let the wind out. So far the system has worked well and still does but the pretty green ones means replacement often. Good thing they really are CHEAP - all three are less than $10 before sales tax. Too bad it's a few hours work to get the old ones down and new ones back up. Yeah, Yeah I know but what else would I be doing . . . Speaking of monsoon season I just came in after noticing the sky. Looking one direction it was the kind of sky-giant white puffy clouds on a beautiful blue background- you could imagine all kinds of shapes and mystical creatures in the clouds. Turn around the opposite direction its totally dark and with lots of threatening lightening AND NOW thunder almost nonstop. Whoops - I hear the rain starting to fall. I hear the rain starting to fall pretty seriously and steadily. I guess I'm partially responsible - I watered the stuff in back this evening. No I'm not really that arrogant it just seems to be related - I water + we get rain- I don't water - nothing. (Ha Ha Ha) Yep Flash Flood warnings out!
It wasn't a bad Saturday- I went over and helped Bill with some hanging sun screens that the roll-up mechanism had broken. I took a grommet kit over and we took the roll-up stuff off and put grommets across the top and fastened them directly to the fascia boards. It worked out pretty well. Then I came home and emptied out the back of the Scout. I guess I wasn't expecting someone to really want the old Ford so I hadn't emptied the truck or glove box etc. The stuff from the truck I just piled in the back of the Scout and left it. That day was really busy. SOOO I had been intending to go through the tools & supplies I carry in the Scout - - - That turned into a few hours - - - I needed to replenish some inventoried fluids and replace a few tools. When that was taken care of I decided to get comfortable in the courtyard - turn the cooler on (I was soaked through "hide & hair and out to the air")and get my Kindle. I finished a book I'd started yesterday evening. Perfect timing IF I'd just taken my shower BEFORE I knocked off to read. (chuckle) I believe you may have heard me mention that issue previously? ? ? Well I guess I haven't learned it YET!
