Wow I’ve really been negligent – been busy to some extent but not enough to excuse myself. I won’t even bore you with the ongoing Mercury stories too much. (chuckle). I will bring you up to date on the headlight issue. For what I recall as the 4th or 5th time I believe it is fixed. No the dash isn’t re-assembled completely but then when I got back to it the other day for “final” check before tackling the re-assembly, guess what?. The battery was dead – I don’t mean it low enough to not start I mean it was dead! SO DEAD that the clock was off. It takes almost no power, that’s how dead it was. My first thought was what on earth did I do? Next thought was what do I do NOW? Well it would be pretty dumb to work with a totally dead electrical system- that would make it really hard to test. Long story, actually over a 24 hour period, I finally got the battery charged up to about 75%. My mind was going through what that could mean? I decided that a better testing process was a few blocks away – a parts store where almost all the employees recognize me and I sort of trust them. Lurking in the back of my thinking processor was the question of “could there be a connection to the headlight issue?” I didn’t think so but coincidences are difficult for me to accept. In this case I guess I’ll have to and I did. So far ! I checked the headlight switch and took it for an extended ride with the lights on, not far from home mind you, but for about 30 minutes. Every time the opportunity presented it’s self I pulled up behind another car so I could see the headlights reflected in their back bumper or what serves as a bumper. I was so excited about the results that I thought It’s “Brew Time.” In fact it was a good thing also AND it was a good thing that it was for A brew (as in single, one only). After driving so long with the lights on in full daylight that when I came back to the car I THEN noticed that the lights were STILL on, sitting in the parking lot. I must have really been looking forward to that brew – I forgotten to turn them off. At that moment I was very happy that I’d decided on the new battery as it started right up and I drove it a bit to give it time to charge back up.
Well the news from the eye doctor wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear but I can't say I was surprised at all. My long diagnosed Cataracts are ready. The report was that I had 20 20 vision with my glasses and all was healthy with my eyes so any vision issues are result of Cataracts. I figured maybe in the next couple of years but. .  . The ophthalmologist said it was up to me - NOW I have contacted VA and started the process of determining if it can be put it off without having to begin the process all over- my report from the ophthalmologist included the information and I’ve heard back from VA with in 24 hrs. Wow! I was advised that all that would be required is for me to call them and that all the data is in my file so that it COULD be scheduled anytime. So when driving at night becomes a problem . . . Isn’t that exciting news? I’m just full of it! Yes, Yes I’ve been accused of that a couple of times before if I remember correctly.
