7:30 PM

Today was another ‘great intentions day’ that didn’t materialize. As the day began it was great and I kept saying to myself “it’s fantastic outside get out there and get her done.” It didn’t happen THEN I realized my back was chicken. My back speaks to me and I’ve learned, sometimes it’s good to listen to it. Admittedly sometimes it misrepresents itself but then . . . That’s a whole different situation.
Skip forward to late afternoon – OK are you going to the Legion today or not? Well why not? I can’t think of a good reason not to so. . . I walked in and there’s a buddy sitting there who has told me he has Alzheimer's so he won’t remember my name. He looks up and say’s “Hello Roger”! Third time in a row that’s happened. I said “Hello Joe !” I added “for not remember my name you’ve done pretty well lately.” He laughed and said “yeah I know and it’s really puzzled me. I think it’s the beard that triggers remembering your name.” We had a laugh – Something along the lines of “Well Great, I’m glad it serves some useful purpose other than relieving me of having to shave and covering up some ugly. We agreed that it was the social contact that we both used the Legion for and discussed all that. He said he doesn’t keep any alcohol at home and only comes for conversation and entertainment. Well we have something else in common- In my case the low cost is a factor but that changes Oct 1 but it still will be far from even a little pricey. Don’t spread that around- the high muckety mucks might hear ya and they want money and power as badly as any politician. (chuckle) All that said it was fun and interesting to joke and kid with “Joe” and everyone else. Shocking to me is I am compelled to make it around the bar and speak, shake hands, hug everyone or whatever seems appropriate before leaving. You’d think I was running for office WHICH I’M NOT.
