I met my mobile mechanic for breakfast and met his wife one of his grand daughters. Then he & I set off for Dawn & Bill’s to attempt to get their older Lincoln’s heater core replaced. Bill had be working on it for about his last 4 Saturdays. That is very likely one of the worst configurations I’ve encountered. Bill researched it and had gotten estimates to do it. The cost exceeds the value of the car – to replace a $40 part. We almost got it to the point that Bill could have finished it but not having been there to know all the items that we had to be re-connect and the hidden bolts and clips and stuff – well it would not have worked out. It is obvious that it was specifically designed to be a “dealer only repair”. This displeases me greatly! See my Mercury is just like it! AS it started getting dark and it was also Jerry’s wife’s Birthday and she was waiting for him. It was decided that we’d knock off for the night. Actually we waited a tad too long as darkness was closing in on ME rapidly with my headlight issues on the Merc. Once again it all worked out in-spite me. The lights worked just fine all the way home, Thankfully. My body was still functioning well enough but was arriving at “THAT” point that is not welcomed and certainly not desirable. Jerry has another job for the morning (OH DARN)(chuckle) but the plan is that we meet after lunch tomorrow and hit it again. I’m pretty sure Jerry’s bill will not be what they want to see but. . . The choices were limited – junk it or junk it and then buy something else.
Now wasn’t that interesting? You don’t have to fib to me – writing it out wasn’t all that much fun either but it does sort of bring things back into perspective.
