Well I guess I’ll have another go at “The News”.
Today I worked on the Scout again. I’m one hose and coolant away from test running it! Phase one (motor mounts) of old Scout renovation. I had some problems along the way but it all is looking good now. Included in that phase and not excepted was making attachments for a brake line. The originals were plastic and broke during the radiator removal. Ah - 40 year old plastic clips replaced with padded metal ones. Subject to how I feel in the morning it might be running in the morning or by mid day. I hesitate to say this but after I got into it I didn’t mind and might came to enjoy some automotive projects. I had to realize (again) and ACCEPT that I ain’t no ‘spring chicken’ anymore. Too many ‘down under and back out and up trips’ takes a toll and 3-4 hours are about my limit. Some days the limit was attained in much less and then dealing with that limitation added some frustration but. . . As I do more of that type of projects I would hope and expect that better preparation and organization will help. Optimistic ? Eh could be but I’ll add it to my ‘could happen’ list anyway.
One unexpected result of the motor mount project is what I foresee as a decrease in laundry. How so you may reasonably ask. I had picked put a pair of genes that were faded and frayed with holes and a couple of t-shirts that I wouldn’t mind NOT having and I sure wouldn’t wash with anything else etc. As I walked out of the hardware store the checkout gal said “you’ve been working on your back”. I said “yea, how did you know?” She said look at your back when you get home. I did ! Light Blue shirt with a dark brown to black backside that would NEVER come clean. Oh Well they weren’t favorites anyway. See - Less laundry.
